The Spaniard lost in straight sets to Alexander Zverev, who was too powerful and consistent for the legendary Mallorcan who may have played his last match at the event.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, world no.1 Iga Swiatek looks unbeatable as she extended her recent winning streak to 13 after round one. Can Aryna Sabalenka or Coco Gauff do anything to stop the Pole claiming a fourth Roland Garros title?
